9/11 Remembrance
Each year, September 11 invites us to pause, reflect, and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the attacks of 2001. It is a day marked by grief, but also by unity, courage, and the quiet strength people showed in the face of tragedy.
We remember the families who carry this loss every day, the first responders who rushed toward danger, and the many acts of compassion that followed. In moments of deep sorrow, people found ways to help one another, and that spirit remains part of the meaning of this day. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum describes its mission as honoring the victims, preserving memory, and sharing stories of commemoration.
On 9/11, we also reflect on resilience. The memorial tradition includes reading names, observing silence, and gathering in remembrance to honor those who were killed and those who served. For many, remembrance also means service, prayer, or a simple moment of gratitude for the people and freedoms we often take for granted.
May we never forget the lives lost, the loved ones left behind, or the strength shown in the aftermath. May remembrance continue to inspire kindness, service, and unity in our communities.
